Would erasing a significant painful memory from your life change who you are today?
Personally, yes because painful memories help shape your values, decisions, and resilience. Removing one might reduce suffering, but it could also change how you understand yourself and the world. In that sense, even difficult experiences become part of who you are
Need comes before desire (for obvious reasons). But how can we quantify "need"? Would'nt the most "needy" always come first? A person who needs smth most will likely put most effort into obtaining such thing.
